Accountant

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a newly created role off the back of genuine growth. You'll sit alongside our Senior Accountant (Kristie) and our Principal (Kyle) to prepare and lodge tax returns, financial statements, and BAS across a varied client base — with strong support from our in-house bookkeeping team and an offshore team member to keep your work moving.

UpBound is a multi-service business support company based in Taree on the Mid North Coast. We handle accounting, bookkeeping, marketing, web, digital, finance, and more — all under one roof, all built around one idea: help first.

Our client base is genuinely varied — from sole traders and individuals through to some of the largest privately owned businesses in the Manning Valley, including high net wealth individuals with complex affairs. Client relationships and meetings are handled by Kyle and Kristie — your job is to produce excellent compliance work across that full range, efficiently and accurately, with the support of the team around you.

We don't care what letters are after your name. We care that you know your stuff, take pride in your work, and can move through a varied compliance workload without needing to be hand-held.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Prepare tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships

• Prepare financial statements and management accounts

• Prepare and lodge BAS across the client portfolio

• Work closely with our in-house bookkeeping team to ensure files are clean and ready

• Work across our tech stack — Xero, BGL, Karbon, Practice Ignition, and Business Fitness

• Coordinate with our offshore team member to delegate and manage prep work efficiently

• Handle email and phone queries from clients as they arise

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You'll bring:

• 2–5 years of accounting experience in public practice

• Solid, hands-on experience across tax, financial statements, and BAS

• A methodical approach — you like things done properly

• Comfortable in Xero — familiarity with BGL, Karbon, Practice Ignition, or Business Fitness is a bonus, but we can train the right person

• Organised, deadline-driven, and able to manage your own workload

Bonus points:

• Experience across a varied client base including complex structures or HNW individuals

• Familiarity working alongside bookkeeping teams

• Any experience delegating to or coordinating with offshore support

• Comfortable with cloud-based practice management tools
