Bergen Restaurant is seeking a skilled and committed Chef to support daily kitchen operations and deliver consistently high-quality food in a full-service dining environment. The role is a full-time, ongoing position and is central to maintaining Bergen’s culinary standards, menu quality, and customer experience in line with ANZSCO 351311 – Chef.

Task & responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present menu items in accordance with quality, taste, and presentation standards.
  • Plan and contribute to menu development, including seasonal and daily specials.
  • Monitor food quality during preparation and service to ensure consistency.
  • Coordinate kitchen workflow to support efficient service during peak periods.
  • Order and manage food supplies, stock levels, and ingredient quality.
  • Enforce food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards.
  • Supervise kitchen operations to maintain professional standards.
  • Control portions and minimise food waste.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant kitchen environment.

Qualification & experience

  • AQF Certificate IV, Diploma, or higher qualification in Commercial Cookery or Hospitality (or equivalent).
  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
  • Strong understanding of fresh-food preparation, food safety, and modern restaurant operations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, quality-focused kitchen environment.
