About Department
St Vincent’s is proud of its International reputation for delivery of Mental Health Services and the use of the ‘Strengths Model’ and its principles and includes a 44 bed adult acute inpatient , Continuing Care Teams; a Crisis Assessment Team, a PARC and Community Care Unit as well as state-wide services and support services.
About the Role
Applications are invited for six 1st year psychiatry registrar positions with St Vincent’s Mental Health. These are full-time accredited training positions.
Training rotations available include: general adult inpatient and community psychiatry, child and adolescent mental health, Koori, consultation-liaison, psycho-oncology, psychogeriatrics, dual diagnosis, perinatal psychiatry, and psychiatry in the private setting. There is an extensive academic and educational program available to trainees at St Vincent’s Mental Health. St Vincent’s has a particular commitment to providing a comprehensive training program which includes quality experience in psychotherapy (supported by our Head of Psychotherapy Training), and an active examination preparation program. In addition to RANZCP Supervision, a senior psychiatrist supports our inpatient registrars with a reflective practice group.
The classification for these positions will be HM25 ($129,048.40 pro rata per annum) + salary sacrifice available
Duties
Assess, formulate and develop treatment plan for patients admitted to the inpatient unit or community under the supervision of the consultant psychiatrist.
Liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary team on the delivery of the treatment plan.
Respect the leadership role and the varied other roles and responsibilities with a team.
Engage in work which is recovery oriented, focused on maximizing decision making capacity and social participation.
Comply with relevant legal requirements and organizational policies regarding health records and timely and accurate patient documentation and statistical data.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Bachelor Medicine, Bachelor Surgery or equivalent
Registration with the AHPRA or eligibility for general registration
Registration as a medication prescriber
Commitment to the Values and Health Care Philosophy of SVHM

The selection process for 1st Year Psychiatry Registrar positions is conducted by the Victorian Psychiatry Training Committee, RANZCP. This is done by way of short-listing applicants, selection interviews and consultation with referees, followed by a College match meeting (to match candidate and hospital preferences).
