Thornton Engineering are currently looking to recruit an experienced and qualified Blaster Painter to join their team in Corio VIC. The successful candidate will need to undertake and possess:

• Surface preparation of steel for painting, safely using chemicals and a range of hand tools
• Clean, wash, strip, sand, remove corrosion, fill dents or otherwise prepare fabricated steel items for application of paint and or other protective coatings.
• Operate various equipment, such as blast pots and spray guns
• Knowledge of various painting methods and applications
• Sandblasting, abrasive and chemical techniques, masking and etching of applications.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprint, sketches and drawings
• Safe operation of tools and equipment
• Grinding, sanding and polishing of steel
• Understanding of painting, caulking and sealing and putting them in to practice
• Ability to apply all types of coatings using various application methods

Skills & Abilities:

• Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application or relevant
• Ideally have 3 years’ experience within relevant or similar field
• Ability to work in a team environment
