The Role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Carpenter to join our dynamic maintenance team at the Howard Springs Defense Accommodation Precinct, working on projects for the Northern Territory Government. This role is ideal for a skilled professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in high-quality craftsmanship.

 

Key Responsibilities

As a Carpenter with Akron Group NT, you will be responsible for:

  • Reading and interpreting drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Measuring, cutting, and assembling wood and other materials with precision.
  • Installing structures and fixtures, including windows, doors, flooring, cabinetry, and other carpentry elements.
  • Repairing, renovating, and maintaining existing structures to ensure their safety and functionality.
  • Operating a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards, following safety regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborating with team members and supervisors to complete projects on time and within scope.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving issues that arise on-site.

 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • To be considered for this role, you must have: 
  • Certificate III in Carpentry (or equivalent qualification).
  • A minimum of 2 years of carpentry experience in a similar role. 
  • Your own set of carpentry tools. 
  • A current driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • A valid Construction White Card. 
  • The ability to work flexible hours, including after-hours and weekends if required.
  • A methodical, detail-oriented, and thorough approach to work. 
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
  • Willingness to undergo a National Police Check.
  • Ability to obtain or currently hold an Ochre Card (Working with Children Clearance).
