Novacoast Building & Novacoast Homes is a Lake Macquarie-based construction company specialising in residential homes, renovations, and additions. With a strong focus on quality craftsmanship and attention to detail, we deliver exceptional results across all our projects.

 

We take on 2-4 large residential projects at a time, ensuring a steady and well-managed workflow. We are now looking for a skilled and motivated Carpenter to join our team. This role is ideal for someone looking to advance their career in the direction of becoming a licensed builder.

 

The Role

As a Carpenter, you will work within a small, close-knit team alongside an apprentice, labourer, and subcontractors as required. You will play a key role in ensuring that all projects are completed to the highest standard.

This is a role suited for a carpenter in a team environment working directly for a licensed builder

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with site manager / builder to complete daily tasks

  • Work alongside Carpenters, labour & contractors to complete quality carpentry work.

  • Read and interpret plans, ensuring all work meets specifications

  • Perform structural and finishing carpentry work, including:

  • Frames & Trusses

  • Eaves & Cladding

  • Stairs, Windows & Doors

  • Plasterboard Installation & Waterproofing

  • Fix-out & Fit-off

  • Ensure a high standard of quality and site safety

  • Problem-solve and troubleshoot carpentry issues independently

 

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in residential construction including as an apprentice

  • Strong background in frames, trusses, eaves, cladding, and fix-out

  • Proven ability to work within a team environment

  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills and be able to delegate and provide clear instructions

 

Requirements

  • Certificate III in Carpentry (plus 1+ year post-apprenticeship experience)

  • OHS White Card

  • Valid Drivers License and own vehicle

  • Own basic carpentry tools

  • Willing to travel between Newcastle and the Central Coast
