We’re looking for a Carpenter & Site Manager that will work closely with different contractors and Director to produce accurate and timely results by improving construction processes of the organization. This is a newly created role and reports to the Director.
The position demands high attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet delivery requirements and deadlines. You will also be involved in assisting the site manager, project manager, structural engineer, and sub-contractors to improve the productivity and profitability of the business from a framing, fit-outs, cladding, lockups and procedural point of view.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Summary of Duties & Responsibilities
We are looking for a full-time skilled Carpenter/Site Manager with 2+ years of experience working on commercial and retail projects to join our team. In your role as Site Manager/Carpenter, your duties will include, but not be limited to, the following.
- Everyday Management of construction site and programme, to effectively and efficiently complete buildings, frames, and fit outs.
- Management of subcontractors and suppliers on site, induction of all personnel and plant/machinery on site, ensuring safety of workers on site and signing off on Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
- Manage your work week between site supervision and carpentry work.
- Be able to works in accordance with the construction documentation, Australian Standards, National Codes, the construction programme.
- Working closely with architect and clients to ensure the fine details throughout the build are beyond and above expectation.
- Maximise site production and ensuring schedules are adhered to by managing sub-contractor’s trade availability.
- Upholding accountability and direction with external stakeholders.
- Continuously reviewing building practices and procedures.
- Uphold high standards throughout the build process including framing, lock up, fix, cladding & decking work.
- Arrange and attend regular site meetings with owners and contract administrators.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Trade Qualification in Carpentry
- Construction White Card
- Work Safely at Heights Rii (Desirable but not essential)
- Elevated Work Platform Rii (Desirable but not essential)
- Demonstrated experience in a similar environment
- Able to work autonomously and as part of a team to plan and execute construction activities
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to operate power tools and machinery safely and effectively
- Physically fit and be able to pass a medical and drug & alcohol screening
- Good communication skills
- Must be proactive in forecasting schedules
