We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Chef specializing in Chinese cuisine, particularly Sichuan style, to join our professional kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook a diverse range of authentic Chinese dishes, with a strong emphasis on Sichuan cuisine
Maintain food quality and presentation standards, ensuring consistency in flavor and appearance
Oversee daily kitchen operations, including staff coordination and service flow during busy periods
Adhere strictly to food safety and hygiene regulations in accordance with Australian standards
Manage kitchen inventory and supplies efficiently, minimizing waste and controlling costs
Contribute to menu development, including new seasonal items and customer-driven innovation
Train and supervise junior kitchen staff to ensure compliance with kitchen protocols and standards
Collaborate with front-of-house team to accommodate special dietary requirements and enhance customer experience
Essential Criteria:
Minimum 3 years' experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen environment, ideally with a focus on Sichuan or broader Chinese cuisine
Strong knowledge of traditional Chinese cooking techniques and ingredients
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Proven leadership and communication skills within a kitchen setting
Understanding of HACCP, food safety, and workplace hygiene practices
Certificate IV or Diploma in Commercial Cookery or Hospitality Management (desirable but not essential)
Proficient in English; Mandarin or other Chinese language skills are an advantage
Must be available to work on a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays
