About City of Port Phillip

We are a vibrant and diverse inner-city council stretching 20kms from South to Port Melbourne along the stunning bay beaches down to Elwood and out to St Kilda East with around 1000 people who all work together to deliver more than 100 programs and services to our engaged community of residents, businesses and visitors. What does that mean? Think, childcare, libraries, parks, recreation, waste rubbish collection, road maintenance, family and youth services, property & assets, city planning & development, customer experience, digital technology, governance, people, culture and safety, and of course South Melbourne Market! What’s the role all about

Seeking an experienced Corporate Affairs professional who is passionate about building trust with our community via the provision of proactive and reactive communications strategies.

Ideally this role would suit a pro-active and strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and a detailed awareness of the social media landscape and how it can negatively and positively impact an organisation’s brand.

Working autonomously, but alongside other capable and passionate professionals, you’d contribute to delivering outcomes that positively benefit our community.

Who we are looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in communications, public relations or journalism
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis communications
  • Experience in creating content for, moderating, and monitoring social media
  • Experience working within a political environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive and constructive working relationships.
