Position Overview 
We are seeking a skilled and experienced DAS Installation Technician to join our client's team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing RF In-Building cellular systems, performing equipment and system repair, maintenance, and testing. This role requires a proactive individual with strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in various environments.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Install RF coax cables, fiber cables, and associated connectors and terminations.
  • Install radios, antennas, and associated RF equipment.
  • Install conduit/pathways in the ROW from source to site by trenching, excavating, hand digging, etc.
  • Use RF test equipment such as a PIM unit, Line Sweep Tester, or Light Meter to verify full functionality of installed components.
  • Utilize construction documents to plan and complete site builds.
  • Coordinate utility locates and implementation of traffic control plans.
  • Prepare QA/QC reports.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems in electrical circuits, RF radios, and omni-directional antennas.
  • Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications, safety codes, and local electrical codes.
  • Manage and coordinate various subcontractors as needed.
  • Work from ladders, aerial lifts, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair wiring and equipment.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks while conveying knowledge of basic/specialized tools and equipment throughout the service job/work order process.
  • Understand and conform to Government/Local regulations and ordinances as well as any/all required Safety Guidelines.
  • Utilize digital platforms (iPad, Laptop) for digital record keeping, email, digital logs and forms, and file sharing.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year in Telecommunication Cabling and Fiber Construction with a focus on DAS project work.
  • Experience in deploying distributed antenna solutions, including both active and passive solutions across multiple infrastructure environments utilizing a variety of equipment vendor products.
  • Experience and/or certification to install equipment and components from Commscope, JMA, RFS.
  • Field experience installing a range of fiber, copper, and coaxial cable types.
  • Experience performing and interpreting a range of Line sweep test procedures, including VSWR, Return Loss, Distance to fault, and cable loss.
  • Experience performing Passive Intermodulation (PIM) Testing.
  • Experience with Fiber splicing and OTDR testing.
  • Capable of performing site acceptance activities, including final testing, quality control, and handover acceptance.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate requirements to others and respond to feedback.
  • Hands-on approach to leadership and willingness to set the expectation levels in terms of quality and performance and manage accordingly.
  • Basic laptop skills in looking at and understanding IbWave, PDF, PowerPoint, and Excel workbooks.
  • Availability to work weekends if required to complete projects and meet timelines.
  • Basic knowledge of PIM/Line Sweep desired but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of DC power and AC power.
