Overview 
The Dispatch and Shipping Lead is responsible for overseeing and managing order dispatch and shipping including managing the relationship with freight partners and software, shipping coordination and owned delivery scheduling to ensuring timely and accurate delivery to customers. This role is a key point of contact between the warehouse, customer service, and external shipping partners, playing a critical role in optimising and improving the end-to-end shipping, dispatch and logistics workflow.  
  
  
Key Responsibilities: 
  
Shipping and Scheduling Management 

  • Book, allocate and schedule orders with external logistics partners and couriers via the freight management platform utilising the most effective option. 
  • Manage the scheduling and optimisation of owned freight (currently Sydney Metro), drivers, and truck efficiency through scheduling software (Track-Pod) to plan routes, optimize truck capacity, and improve delivery timelines. 
  
Freight Partner Management 
  • Own the relationship with third-party freight partners ensuring SLA’s are adhered to, cost efficiency is achieved, and any issues are escalated to account managers and resolved promptly. 
  • Monitor the status of shipments and escalate issues or disputes to account managers and collaborate on solutions to enhance service quality. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams (customer service, retail, trade, drivers, warehouse) to provide updates on shipping status, resolve shipping-related inquiries, and manage escalations. 
  
Process Optimisation and Scalability 
  • Play a key role in the implementation of a warehouse management system (WMS). 
  • Drive continuous improvements in dispatch workflows, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce errors. 
  • Explore and adopt new technologies and systems to support business growth, including scaling the dispatch process to handle higher order volumes. 
  
Team Collaboration and Reporting 
  • Serve as the key point of contact between the customer service, warehouse and logistics teams, ensuring seamless communication. 
  • Provide regular reporting on dispatch performance, freight costs, and delivery efficiency. 
  • Support team training and upskilling to ensure smooth adoption of new tools, technologies, and workflows. 
  
  
Skills & Qualifications: 
  • Experience: 4+ years in shipping and dispatch management, supply chain management, or warehouse operations. 
  • Adaptability: Strong ability to learn and implement new systems, technologies, and processes in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Analytical Thinking: Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to identify process bottlenecks and areas for improvement. 
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for managing cross-functional collaboration and external vendor relationships. 
  • Organizational Skills: Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple workflows, and maintain accurate records. 
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in managing orders, shipping data, and scheduling. 
  • Tech-Savviness: Proven ability to explore new technology and software, analyse and implement into the business. 
  • Growth Mindset: Passionate about identifying innovative solutions to scale operations and improve efficiency.

Salary: $90,000-$110,000 + super
Reports To: Warehouse and Logistics Manager 
Position Type: Full-Time permanent position. Monday to Friday
