We are seeking a qualified and caring Early Childhood Educator – Room Assistant to join our team at Raising Stars Early Learning Centre in Five Dock, NSW. This full-time role is responsible for supporting lead educators in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children aged 0 to 6 years. Working within the guidelines of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standards (NQS), you will assist in planning and delivering engaging, play-based learning experiences, supervising daily routines, and supporting each child's emotional, social, and cognitive development. Key responsibilities include preparing educational materials, maintaining hygiene and safety standards, observing and documenting developmental progress, and fostering positive relationships with children and families.
Benefits
- $70,000 - $80,000 per annum + superannuation.
Task & Responsibilities
- Provide education and care for babies, toddlers, and children, fostering their learning and development in a safe and supportive environment.
- Lead the preparation of materials and equipment to facilitate engaging educational and recreational experiences that promote play-based learning.
- Develop and maintain positive, respectful relationships with children, ensuring their emotional, social, and cognitive growth.
- Monitor and assist with children’s daily routines, guiding their behaviour and fostering positive interactions with peers. Oversee children during routine activities, such as meal times, rest periods, and transitions, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Observe, document, and assess children’s development, using insights to inform programming and individualised learning approaches.
- Ensure the health, safety, and hygiene of children at all times, maintaining a secure environment that promotes well-being. Respond to incidents and emergencies, administering first aid when required and following health and safety protocols.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of activities that stimulate children’s development, including reading, playing games, and engaging in other enriching experiences.
- Support the inclusion of all children, fostering an environment where diversity is valued and every child is given the opportunity to thrive.
- Collaborate with fellow educators, guiding and supporting them in providing appropriate care, supervision, and educational experiences for children.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development to support continuous improvement in childcare practices.
Qualification & Experience
Qualifications: Minimum AQF Diploma in Children’s Education and Care or equivalent, as recognised by licensing authorities.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of work experience as a room assistant in a childcare centre.
Other Requirements:
- Child Protection Qualification
- Current First Aid, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma Management Training
- Clear Working with Children Check
- Sound understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards
- Ability to work effectively within a team and engage positively with children and families
