The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists to join our community in the role of Education Support Officer. As an ESO (curriculum) you will be energetic and enthusiastic, warm and engaging and will be willing to work to support the needs of the students at St Brigid’s School
Hours of Work
Monday-Friday 8.50am – 3:00pm, 5 days a week, school terms only (40 weeks a year.)
Key Responsibilities
As an Education Support Officer (Curriculum) you will be able to:
Use initiative to support and engage students with their learning, while actively supporting their social, emotional and behavioural needs.
Work under the direction of and collaboratively with the Inclusive Education coordinator, teachers and other Support Officers to support successful learning and wellbeing outcomes;
Assist the Classroom Teacher to implement a modified learning program for students with additional needs
Assist students with in-class literacy learning, using prepared and structured programs developed by teachers.
Carry out a wide variety of tasks associated with classroom learning experiences (e.g. assisting teachers in preparing, implementing and supervising classrooms and/or intervention programs).
Assist teachers with the care of students on excursions, as required.
Apply personal knowledge and initiative to suggest modifications to educational programs to meet the learning needs of specific students, subject to approval of the teacher.
Develop positive relationships with students, parents and staff.
The role and responsibilities will be tailored to the right candidate.
The successful candidate should have or be willing to obtain:
A Certificate in Education Support (or equivalent) or other associated qualification relevant for a school setting is preferred, however, previously demonstrated experience working in a classroom support role will also be considered.
Hold a current acceptable Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance & screening to work in Catholic Education South Australia.
Responding to the Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect Training - Education and Care (RRHAN-EC)
First Aid Certificate (HLTAID012)
