Instrumental Tutor – Piano/Vocal
Vocal: 2–3 hours of teaching per week, with potential to grow to a full day
Piano: 1–2 days of teaching per week
Damascus College is a dynamic Christ-centred learning community, set in a beautiful 22-hectare bush setting close to the Ballarat CBD. As Ballarat’s only Catholic co-educational secondary college, our innovative and progressive learning environment aspires to challenge students to contribute confidently to the global community.
Damascus is seeking dynamic and experienced Vocal and Piano Instrumental Tutors to join our growing Instrumental Music Department for the remainder of the 2025 school year. Commencing as soon as possible these contract roles offer exciting opportunities to work with enthusiastic students in a supportive and professional environment, with the potential to continue into 2026.
Students in the program are enrolled for half hour lessons on a rotational basis, during school hours each week and are charged for eight lessons per term.
It is preferable for applicants to have the ability to work, communicate with and educate students of varying skill levels (from complete beginner with no music experience to intermediate students with a good knowledge of music theory and techniques).
Key Selection Criteria:
1. Ability to teach classical and contemporary technique
2. Ability to teach the reading and writing of music
3. Ability to teach VCE music and AMEB syllabus
4. Ability to modify and differentiate for students with diverse learning needs
5. Maintain a current Working with Children Check and complete annual requirements required for complying with the College’s Child Safe Standards
6. Demonstrate excellent organisation and administrative skills
7. Ability to accompany students of VCE music if required
