INTERMEDIATE ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

The Intermediate Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, documentation, and implementation of electrical systems within building services projects. This position supports engineering functions across multiple sectors including commercial, residential, education, health, and infrastructure. The role requires strict adherence to Australian Standards and the National Construction Code (NCC), with a focus on delivering energy-efficient and compliant solutions. Duties are aligned with ANZSCO 233914 and 233999 and require a level of independence in executing technical tasks and coordinating multidisciplinary inputs

·         Interpret design briefs and develop detailed electrical engineering solutions.

·         Carry out manual calculations for maximum demand, voltage drop, cable sizing, and fault current in accordance with AS3000 and project specifications.

·         Design electrical services using Revit and AutoCAD, including lighting, general power, switchboards, and single-line diagrams.

·         Conduct lighting and energy calculations using Dialux Evo to ensure compliance with energy efficiency standards and Section J of the NCC.

·         Evaluate and specify emergency lighting systems in line with AS/NZS 2293.

·         Develop, assess, and document low-voltage and medium-voltage power distribution systems.

·         Liaise with mechanical, hydraulic, and fire engineers to ensure coordinated building services design.

·         Attend site inspections, surveys, and verify construction activities against engineering designs.

·         Provide technical input during project meetings and respond to design queries from stakeholders.

·         Prepare electrical specifications, schedules, and documentation to support tender and construction phases.

·         Ensure all designs comply with internal quality assurance protocols and applicable Australian standards.

·         Maintain accurate project records and contribute to project reporting requirements.

·         Support the mentoring and technical development of junior engineers and drafters.

·         Conduct investigations and troubleshoot technical issues related to electrical systems on active projects.
