The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and servicing light vehicles in a professional and efficient manner, ensuring our clients receive high-quality automotive services. Task & Responsibilities
- Perform routine vehicle servicing including oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and other regular maintenance tasks.
- Conduct brake maintenance, including brake pad replacement, rotor resurfacing, and brake fluid flushing to ensure safety and performance.
- Perform engine tune-ups, including spark plug replacement, ignition system checks, and fuel system cleaning.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in light vehicles, including engines, transmissions, suspension systems, and electrical systems.
- Perform suspension work, including shock absorber replacement, suspension component repairs, and alignment adjustments to ensure vehicle safety and handling.
- Perform transmission work, including repairs, replacements, and servicing of manual and automatic transmissions.
- Conduct all motor work, which may include engine rebuilds, valve and piston work, timing belt changes, and other comprehensive engine repairs.
- Complete vehicle repairs and services in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues and provide accurate repair estimates.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
- Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining repair needs and offering recommendations for future maintenance.
- Ensure all vehicles are returned to customers in a safe and roadworthy condition.
- Stay updated with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
Qualification & Experience
- Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent qualification).
- Proven experience working as a light vehicle mechanic for a minimum of 5 years.
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repair techniques.
- Proficiency in performing general vehicle servicing, brake maintenance, engine tuneups,
suspension work, transmission work, and all motor work. - Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to customers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- A valid driver’s licence manual and automatic.
