Woorayl Lodge Inc is a well-respected, reputable and long standing Not For Profit (NFP) Aged Care Facility located in Leongatha, within the picturesque South Gippsland region of Victoria.

With a community centric history and governed by a voluntary Board of Management representing a cross section of the South Gippsland community, Woorayl Lodge was first established in 1956 by the local Rotary Club chapter and we are proud to still be a community owned and managed facility. Since inception, Woorayl Lodge has grown substantially, currently housing 29 independent living units and a 40 bed residential facility with plans for future substantial growth.

Task & Responsibilities

Working within a multidisciplinary team and practicing with and under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) and Enrolled Nurse (EN), your responsibilities will include:

  • In consultation with the RN/EN contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised care and care plans for each client.
  • Assisting clients to meet daily living needs in relation to nourishment, hydration, mobility, personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, physical/therapy-based treatments or plans, medications, communication, domestic activities, general activity participation and other support within the care plan.
  • Assisting with rehabilitation exercises and basic treatment as required.
  • Following therapy plans to assist those with specialised needs such as dementia or behavioural problems.
  • Observe clients’ physical, emotional and behavioural conditions and report changes in condition or any uncharacteristic or inappropriate behaviours.
  • Encourage and support clients in offering feedback and criticisms in relation to their care and needs.
  • Comply with all Woorayl Lodge policies and procedures and provide a quality service in accordance with the Aged Care Quality Standards.
  • Be prompt, courteous and respectful when interacting with clients, families and colleagues.
  • Provide direct support and/or assistance to therapists and other support services/practitioners as required.
  • Support the rights, interests and needs of the client, whilst respecting their right to freedom of choice, privacy & dignity.
Qualification & Experience

The ideal candidates for these opportunities will have:

  • An AQF Certificate III (or equivalent) and recent and relevant work experience in the Aged Care sector.
  • Experience in the various responsibilities listed above. 
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to excellence and quality in the provision of aged care services.
  • Well-developed communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to complete documentation to meet Woorayl Lodge standards, accreditation and funding requirements, both written and electronically (PC based).
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with accreditation/compliance as appropriate to level.
  • Demonstrated ability to organise and manage own routine and workload.
  • Commitment to, and willingness to participate in, continuing training and education related to area of employment.
  • Ability to work effectively, respectfully and collegially in team environment.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to work with clients of differing backgrounds whilst maintaining role and professional boundaries.
  • Ability to write and speak English in a way that supports clear communication with clients and colleagues and government investigative bodies.
  • Current satisfactory police check.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Aged Care Accreditation Standards.
  • Relevant immunisations, including Covid Vaccinations + Booster and Seasonal Flu Vaccination.
