The Role

Steel Builders is currently seeking experienced Shift Manager with steel fabrication experience to support our afternoon shift in Western Sydney. As the Shift Manager, you are responsible for directing, coordinating, supervising and meeting the manufacturing requirements across the afternoon shift.  As a part of the Steel Builders team, you are expected to role model the values and behaviours to ensure a high performing and engaged culture. This role will sit within the Operations team and contribute to the business efficiency and continuity. 

Key Responsibilities

As Afternoon Shift Manager you will be responsible for: 

• Manage activities and ensure work is performed safely and efficiently
• Supervise personnel on site, being available for problem solving and decision making
• Monitor operational KPIs Provide reports on outcomes against expectations, understand any variance to expectations
• Sound working knowledge of cutting, fabrication, painting and loading duties by Team Members
• Ensure the appropriate equipment and vehicles are available and in good order and condition
• Maintain appropriate records of all company property and equipment
• Accountability of CoR requirements for packing product and loading vehicles
• Lead by example for staff in manner, attitude and customer service to ensure the operations are process driven
• Manage onboarding, training, upskilling, multiskilling of team members of your shift

Key Skills

To be successful in this role you will possess the following

• A minimum of 3 years in a similar role 
• Proven knowledge and experience with steel fabrication and manufacturing processes would be highly desirable 
• Highly developed communication skills, including strong team management & interpersonal influence.
• High level of written communication skills is essential.
• Highly developed analytical skills to collect and analyse information, problem solve & make effective decisions & find positive solutions. 
• Developed computer literacy skills, specifically with Microsoft office suite.
• A safety-first mindset
