About the Role We are Data, Analysis and AI team advocates and use data engineering best practices to build scalable and re-usable data solutions to help clients use their data to gain insights, drive decisions and deliver business value. Clients don’t engage BJSS to do the straightforward things, they ask us to help on their biggest challenges which means we get to work with a wide range of tools and technologies and there are always new things to learn. We are looking for a talented Principal Consultant who wants to take the next step in their career and join our Data, Analytics and AI practice. You’ll be a technical authority at the centre of our engagements, managing technical risk and creating real business value. You’ll be willing to be hands-on when you need to be and seek to balance innovation and intellectual rigor with realism. You will work with talented, innovative, and creative Data & AI technologists to design and implement the right data engineering and architecture choices for our clients. You will also lean into your technology knowledge to help define and contribute to our data accelerators. About You While we embrace a multi-cloud approach, this role centres on the AWS ecosystem. Additional experience with Azure, GCP, or Databricks platforms alongside AWS will set you apartProven, hands-on mastery of the AWS data toolkit, including tools like Redshift, Glue, S3, Athena, Lake Formation, RDS, Kinesis, MSK, open-source Kafka, Spark, and more. The broader your exposure, the betterComprehensive knowledge of today’s cloud data architecture landscape, spanning relational and non-relational databases, data warehouses, data lakes, and data lakehouses, with the ability to illustrate how data engineering binds these elements togetherProficiency in Python and SQL is essential; familiarity with Scala, Java, or .NET is a valuable bonusPractical experience with leading open-source or commercial tools for orchestration, pipeline management, data transformation, workflows, and integrationSolid grasp of architectural strategies for large-scale data ingestion and transformationDemonstrated skills in data modeling, architecture, security, quality, governance, mining, analysis, and reporting are strongly preferredBackground in integrating third-party data vendorsAn AWS Associate or Specialty certification in a data-related domain is a plus, as are additional certifications from AWS, Azure, or GCPAI experience is advantageous Other areas of interest to us that would strengthen your candidacy include:Defining Future State Data ArchitectureDefining Data migration repeatable patternsKnowledge of Snowflake, Databricks, Synapse and/or FabricExperience of business development activities and developing client accountsStrong record of leadershipAdept at communicating complex ideas effectivelyYou have the expertise and confidence to work with a range of partners across diverse business and technology communitiesYou have energy and a pragmatic delivery-focused attitude that wins the respect of those around you and makes you a trusted technical advisorYou love technology and want to keep on learning.
