The People and Culture team is seeking a data professional with experience and a passion for analytics, workforce compliance reporting, and HR system administration for the department for a diverse, dynamic organisation. These systems and software include the SQL Server data warehouse, Power BI, and workforce systems such as Aurion. Working with the business, you will provide quality workforce data to the department and have a focus on continuous quality improvement to build the capability of workforce data access and analytics across the department.

The Workforce Planning and Analytics team delivers talent acquisition and retention initiatives, diversity, inclusion and belonging, employee engagement, capability development reporting and analytics.

Key responsibilities

As the Principal HR Data Analyst, you will specifically:

• Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Deliver critical operational and strategic workforce planning and workforce compliance reporting accurately and timely and in a manner that is consistent and aligned with Queensland Government HR reporting protocols set by the Public Service Commission.
• Provide high quality and authoritative consultancy and advice services to senior leaders and business units in relation to:
o workforce reporting, analysis and transition
o HR systems (e.g. Aurion and Aurion Employee Self Service).
Including supporting the development of skills, capability and understanding in these areas.
• Coordinate governance and correspondence activities including drafting briefs and submissions, and supporting the estimates and parliamentary correspondence processes, ensuring that information, HR data analysis provided is consistent and aligned with existing HR reporting practice.
• Coordinate the Departments reporting to the Public Service Commission including the reporting through PL27 (the data collection and validation tool used by government agencies).
• Maintain and further develop the workforce analytics business intelligence platforms (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, Power BI), including the development of tools, applications and processes that facilitates HR information to be effectively stored, utilised and reported on automate and enhance efficiencies wherever possible (e.g. Power BI dashboards).
• Provide project, data and analytical input to maximise the use of workforce and demographic data and information to support and enhance the delivery of key initiatives to the Department.
• Provide oversight, manage, test and reconcile data to ensure the effective transition of employees, positions and organisational units within and between payroll systems during system improvements, organisational transition and changes.
