Psychologist - Veteran specific

About the role

Veteran Advocacy Australia is seeking qualified and experienced Psychologists to join our team in Brisbane. Full-time and part-time roles available. You will be responsible for providing high-quality, veteran-specific psychological support and counselling services to our clients.

What you'll be doing

• Conducting comprehensive psychological assessments and developing tailored treatment plans for veterans

• Providing individual, group, and family therapy sessions to address a range of mental health concerns, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, and adjustment issues

• Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as psychiatrists and social workers, to ensure a holistic approach to client care

• Maintaining detailed client records and adhering to all relevant professional and ethical standards

• Participating in ongoing professional development and training to stay up-to-date with best practices in veteran-specific mental health care

• Contributing to the development and implementation of innovative programs and initiatives to support the mental wellbeing of veterans

What we're looking for

• Registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

• Minimum of 3 years of experience working with veterans, military personnel, or other trauma-affected populations

• Demonstrated expertise in the assessment and treatment of a range of mental health conditions, with a focus on trauma-related disorders

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds

• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines

• A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to contribute to the growth and innovation of our services
