All treatments are delivered by fully qualified and experienced Remedial Massage Therapists, ensuring a high standard of care tailored to individual clinical needs. We are committed to supporting functional recovery, enhancing physical performance, and promoting long-term musculoskeletal health through precise, client-focused therapeutic interventions.

Required Qualifications:

• HLT52021 Diploma of Remedial Massage

• Dry needling certification

Required Experience:

• The employee must be a qualified Remedial Massage Therapist

• The employee must have at least one-year full-time experience (or equivalent) working in a setting where they were responsible for independently assessing client needs, tailoring treatments accordingly, and providing rehabilitation advice and referrals to other health professionals where appropriate.

Required Skills:

• Proficient knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and various therapeutic massage and soft-tissue techniques to address specific client issues.

• The ability to listen carefully to clients to understand their concerns and tailor treatments accordingly.

• Research skills and the ability to apply evidence to practice.

• The ability to be empathetic to the physical and emotional needs of a diverse range of clients.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain treatments, address questions, and educate clients on self-care.

• Professional demeanor, including good time management, personal hygiene, and ethical practice.

• The ability to work closely with other professionals to achieve the best client outcomes and to contribute to other therapists' professional development.

Proposed tasks:

• Assess soft tissue and musculoskeletal dysfunction in clients by conducting thorough evaluations of their physical condition, case history, and presenting concerns. This includes identifying specific areas of muscle tension, restricted movement, and underlying soft tissue dysfunction that may contribute to pain, discomfort, or mobility limitations.

• Develop individualized treatment plans based on client assessments, considering their medical history, physical condition, and treatment goals to ensure a tailored and effective therapeutic approach.

• Treat soft tissue and musculoskeletal dysfunction in clients using a range of evidence-based techniques, including remedial massage, trigger point dry needling, reflexology, and other soft tissue therapies to relieve pain, improve mobility, and promote overall well-being.

• Utilize a variety of massage techniques to enhance sports performance, support recovery, and prevent injuries, tailoring treatments to address muscle fatigue, tension, and imbalance in active individuals.

• Administer therapeutic treatments to promote relaxation, improve circulation, and alleviate muscle tension by incorporating appropriate manual therapy techniques, including deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and acupressure.

• Employ complementary aids such as heat or cold therapy, essential oils, infrared lamps, and hydrotherapy methods when necessary to support client recovery and enhance treatment effectiveness.

• Provide rehabilitation advice by recommending stretching exercises, postural corrections, and relaxation techniques to help clients maintain progress between sessions and prevent reoccurring issues.

• Refer clients to other health professionals or their GP when appropriate.

• Maintain appropriate client records in line with the requirements of their professional massage association and of the health funds that they are registered with.

• Assist with training and professional development of other Massage Hut therapists.

• Maintain appropriate professional qualifications and registrations.

• Maintain registration with health funds, including Medibank.

• Engage in continuing professional development to extend knowledge and skills and to stay up-to-date with industry advancements.

• Maintain first aid skills.

• Maintain personal indemnity insurance, as required by their professional massage association.

Proposed Annual Earnings for the position:

• $70,000-$80,000

• Massage Hut currently pays our Remedial Massage Therapist employees a minimum rate of $41.25 per hour, which is above the Health Professional employee - 2024 level 2 minimum rate of $36.26 per hour, as per the Health Professionals and Support Services Award 2010 (AM2008/13).

• According to Section B.2 of this Award, this level is appropriate for a Health Professional who has progressed beyond the early stages of their career and who works independently, is required to exercise judgement, and has demonstrated a commitment to professional development.
