Tasks & responsibilities
• Select and purchase a diverse range of products, including groceries, dairy products, vegetables, fruits, and other items suitable for resale in the Indian grocery store.
• Source high-quality ingredients and supplies needed for daily operations.
• Identify and establish relationships with suitable suppliers and wholesalers.
• Maintain strong partnerships to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality products.
• Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure competitive prices and favorable delivery terms.
• Seek new suppliers to enhance product quality and cost-efficiency.
• Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with the store’s budget, quality standards, and inventory requirements.
• Manage inventory levels efficiently to minimize waste and ensure timely availability of products.
• Monitor market trends, competitor prices, and product availability to adjust purchasing strategies as needed.
• Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, seasonal ingredients, and new products.
• Perform consumer research to understand product demand and preferences.
• Handle administrative tasks related to purchasing, including placing orders, tracking deliveries, and maintaining purchase records.
• Keep accurate stock records to facilitate inventory management and financial reporting.
• Manage pricing strategies and promotional activities to optimize sales and customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with management teams to understand their product needs and preferences.
• Planning, managing, selecting and purchasing goods and merchandise.Building relations with new suppliers.
Qualifications & experience
• AQF Certificate III or AQF Certificate IV.
• 2 years of proven experience as a Retail Buyer or in a similar procurement role, preferably in this retail industry.
• Strong understanding of the Grocery supply chain and experience negotiating with suppliers.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to make informed decisions based on market research and financial analysis.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
• Knowledge of inventory management practices and systems.
