With over 600 stores in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, China, and Dubai, and many more exciting locations to come, the secret to our success lies in our exceptional customer service paired with competitively priced quality products. We take great pride in being innovative and responsive to the changing needs and challenges of the current market.

We’re seeking to expand our team by adding a Senior Backup and Recovery Engineer who will champion cutting-edge backup and recovery technologies, orchestrate their seamless integration, and elevate our processes, all while ensuring alignment with needs and regulatory requirements.

Directly reporting to the Cloud & Platform Services Manager, this pivotal role is an integral part of the team entrusted with designing, building, and managing the organisation’s Infrastructure and Cloud solutions

Role responsibilities

As a Senior Backup and Recovery Engineer, you’ll be:

  • Collaborating closely with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and regulatory needs, adeptly translating technical concepts and solutions to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Partnering with other technology experts to strategically plan, design, and implement Backup and Recovery processes and solutions.
  • Offering guidance and mentorship to technology team members, sharing best practices, and exploring solution options to optimize our backup strategy.
  • Proactively monitoring and operating Backup and Recovery solutions, ensuring standards and targets are met.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to IT Management, providing invaluable insights that shape strategic decisions to drive us towards continued success.
  • Contributing to the resolution, root cause analysis, and preventative measure of alerts and incidents.
  • Validating and remediating solution compliance, ensuring adherence to security and regulatory requirements.

About you

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Extensive experience with Commvault or an equivalent Backup and Recovery platforms. This role is crucial in growing our engineering capabilities and developing our technologies to accommodate our expanding global footprint. You’ll need a solid understanding of Backup and Recovery technologies and hands-on experience to do that.
  • A good understanding of VMware virtualisation, Physical hardware, and Windows Operating Systems. It is key that you’re able to understand the best practices required to efficiently protect data hosted on these platforms.
  • Knowledge of security best practices, particularly regarding data encryption, access control, and ensuring the integrity of the backed-up data. Understanding how to implement robust security measures to protect sensitive information is essential for maintaining data confidentiality and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • An eagerness to mentor and grow with others. We’ll learn together and share our knowledge and experiences.
  • A passion for delivering exceptional service and a customer-centric approach. Effective communication is paramount as you collaborate with a diverse range of customers to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • A philosophy of lifelong learning. Technology is constantly changing, and so are we. You’ll keep up with technology trends and explore new solution options through experimentation.

The learning curve will be a little shorter if you also have experience in:

  • Azure or equivalent Cloud computing platforms. We’re embarking on a multi-cloud journey and the ability to protect services hosted on these platforms will be key.
  • Networking, as it underpins the connectivity between everything we build. Understanding core networking principles such as routing, firewalls, and DNS goes a long way in all technology roles.

What you should know

Aside from the usual things you should expect from any organisation, we also offer our team the following:

  • Discounts across all our brands. Plus, access to the "gift shop" at our Head Office with exceptional discounts on end-of-line products.
  • Discounted hot/cold food and drink at our Head Office on-site cafe.
