Task & Responsibilities
Material Preparation and Project Planning: Interpret blueprints and project specifications to determine required materials, dimensions, and installation procedures. Select appropriate materials and prepare work surfaces by sealing foundations with damp-resistant materials and spreading layers of mortar.
Stone Cutting, Shaping, and Installation: Accurately cut, shape, and polish stone and brick materials using machines and hand tools to meet project specifications. Design and install stone surfaces such as benchtops, splashbacks, feature walls, and monumental masonry, ensuring precision, quality, and proper alignment.
Masonry Construction: Lay bricks in rows and designs, embedding blocks in mortar while checking vertical and horizontal alignment. Construct walls using stone slabs and large masonry slab blocks, ensuring durability and aesthetics.
Project Management: Oversee the alignment and placement of stone, manage project timelines, and uphold high standards of craftsmanship throughout the installation process.
Maintenance and Repairs: Perform repairs and maintenance on existing masonry structures, including bricks, cement blocks, and related structures, to enhance longevity and appearance.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols while erecting and dismantling restricted height scaffolding, and maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
Qualification & Experience
Qualification: AQF Certificate III in Stonemasonry
OR
Experience: At least 2 years of relevant experience in stonemasonry or a related field.
Essential Skills:
Expertise in stone cutting, shaping, and installation.
High level of precision and attention to detail.
Ability to interpret and execute custom designs.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
