In this role, you'll:


This role will see you develop, implement, and improve Technical Maintenance Plans (TMPs) for operational assets to enable Sydney Trains and NSW Trains to meet safety and reliability performance targets. You will apply risk-based methodologies such as FMECA, RCM, PMO, and CBM to optimise maintenance strategies and drive cost-effective operation and maintenance of assets throughout their lifecycle. You will collaborate with engineering teams and field maintainers to enhance maintenance practices and ensure compliance with Sydney Trains’ approved methodologies and procedures.

This is a fixed-term opportunity until February 2026, with a possible limited extension.

About you


Your expertise in maintenance planning, formed across rail infrastructure, fleet management, or complex operational systems, will see you excel in optimising maintenance strategies and ensuring compliance with engineering standards. You’re recognised as a strategic thinker, skilled at applying reliability-centred maintenance techniques such as Failure Mode, Effect and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) and Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), and experienced in improving maintenance plans to achieve business and commercial objectives.

You hold relevant engineering qualifications recognised for Graduate Membership (or eligibility for Graduate Membership) of IE Australia, or a Certificate IV / Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline with extensive practical experience in the maintenance of rail infrastructure, fleet, or equivalent complex operational systems. Your proven capability in reliability modelling on complex systems and equipment, combined with your ability to drive efficiency and compliance, will enable you to succeed in this role.

This is an Award RC7 Temporary Fixed Term Full-Time role initially till 30/02/2026 based in Burwood, with flexibility through our cutting-edge hybrid working model!.
