Join the Future Technologies cluster at RMIT as a Vocational Education Teacher in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering and help shape the future of aviation and aeronautical students. The Future Technologies cluster is based in the Melbourne CBD and is a multi-award-winning department, which focuses on engineering and information technology.

As a VE, Teacher specialising in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, you will focus on teaching course content, evaluating student performance and competency, and overseeing students in various courses within the Future Technologies cluster. You will be at the forefront of ensuring the students' ability to ensure safety and reliability of aviation technology, inspections and diagnostics of aircraft systems, and staying up to date with the latest advancements in aviation technology.

Your role will be supported by engaging in activities that ensure your vocational expertise aligns with or surpasses the level of education you are providing and assessing.

To be successful in this position, you'll have:

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills relevant to teaching and consultancy environments. This includes effective presentation and facilitation skills, and in the use of flexible teaching methods.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in competency-based assessment related to aircraft maintenance engineering. For example: WHS procedures, self-management, technical communication, computer applications, aircraft configuration, engineering materials, mathematical applications, environmental sustainability, maintenance supervision, airworthiness management.
  • Ability in ensuring current and contemporary vocational competence which meets and/or exceeds the education level being delivered and assessed.
  • Experience in relevant industry, and substantial discipline knowledge as it relates to this position.
  • Capacity to diagnose learning problems in students, propose and implement effective solutions.
  • Ability to contribute effectively as a constructive and proactive member of a team.
  • Demonstrated skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • A qualification in aeronautical or aircraft maintenance engineering
